Darin Thrun completed his third season as the assistant women'sbasketball coach under head coach Jamie Pewinski in March 2014.
Thrun helped lead the Lady Cardinals to back-to-back GLIACQuarterfinals appearances in 2012-13 and 2013-14. Prior to the2012-13 season, the program's last appearance in the leaguetournament was during the 2006-07 season.
Thrun was officially named the SVSU Women’s BasketballAssistant Coach on May 25, 2011. Prior to Saginaw Valley State,Thrun spent four seasons at Eastern Michigan University as anassistant coach and three years at Michigan State University as astudent assistant.
During his tenure at Eastern Michigan, the Eagles totaled 71wins, appeared in the NCAA Tournament and Women’s NationalInvitational Tournament, and won the MAC West DivisionChampionship. During the 2010-11 season, EMU broke 16 single-seasonschool records en route to 24 total wins. The program also hadeight All-MAC selections during the four year span (2007-2010).
Before heading to Eastern Michigan, Thrun spent three years withthe women’s basketball program at Michigan State University.The Spartans compiled a 79-23 record during that time, earning the2005 Big Ten Conference regular-season championship, a Big TenTournament championship and an NCAA Tournament runner-upfinish.
A native of Nashville, Mich., Thrun graduated from MichiganState University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Science degreein Biological Science and a minor in Chemistry. In 2012, hegraduated with a Master’s of Science degree in SportManagement from Eastern Michigan University.
