Corky Thompson joins the SVSU baseball staff for his firstseason as a Cardinal assistant coach. Thompson will workmainly with the outfielders and assist in all other aspects of theprogram.
Corky brings with him 20 years of coaching experience, rangingfrom the high school to the collegiate level. He was mostrecently a head coach in the Saginaw Heritage High School baseballprogram from 2011-2013.
Prior to that, he spent three seasons at Division I SaintPeter's College, where he served as the team's RecruitingCoordinator, Pitching Coach and Camp Director. While at SaintPeter's, seven different pitching records were broken under hisguidance. The staff ERA fell from 7.00 to 4.36 while he wasat the helm as well. Thompson helped establish baseball campsat the College as well, attracting just under 500 campers in theirfirst year of existence.
Prior to his coaching job at Saint Peter's, Thompson spent timeas a head coach at Saginaw Arthur Hill and Saginaw High, as well asserving as the Head JV Coach at Swan Valley. He coached theSaginaw American Legion Post 22 for eight years, guiding them tothe 2001 MRPA State Championship.
Thompson received a Bachelor's Degree in Physical and HealthEducation from Saginaw Valley State University. He currentlyresides in Saginaw.
