Cardinals Fall To Dragons In GLIAC Women's Tennis Matchup

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis team fellIzabella Ismailova in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest to Tiffin University today (Sept. 7) by a score of 8-1.


Scoring the only point of the day for the Cardinals was freshman Izabella Ismailova (Almaty, Kazkhstan/Military College of Sport).  She recorded her first-career singles victory in a Cardinal uniform, defeating Tiffin's #1 player Malaiki Messi. 

Saginaw Valley was unable to capitalize in doubles play, despite efforts by the #2 doubles tandem of Ismailova and senior Charlotte Wong (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island/Colonel Gray Senior High), who battled but fell just short by a score of 9-7.  

With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the GLIAC while the Dragons improve to 3-0 overall both overall and in league play. 

Saginaw Valley returns to action tomorrow (Sept. 8) for a 10:00 AM home match against Ohio Dominican University in the finale of its three-match home stand.
