Four Cardinals Earn Academic All-District Honors

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer had four players earn College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Honors. Seniors Lainey Garbarz (Pinckney, Mich. / Father Gabriel Richard HS) and Rileigh Garbarz (Pinckney, Mich. / Father Gabriel Richard HS) along with sophomores Gracie Cwik (Bartlett, Ill. / Bartlett HS) and Emily Kolodin (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Grand Blanc HS).

The honors come from their success on the field and in the classroom. Each player must have at least a sophomore standing, be a starter or play significant minutes off the bench and have a 3.5 grade point average or better.

Lainey Garbarz and Rileigh Garbarz look to complete their degrees this year with Lainey Garbarz studying Management and Rileigh Garbarz studying Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, and Biomedical Sciences. Both hold a GPA just under 4.0 and started in all 21 games for SVSU.

Kolodin posted 14 points, leading the team in assists with eight, and scoring three goals in her first year with the team after transferring from Eastern Michigan University.
