UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team fell 2–0 to Ferris State University on Sunday. SVSU hadn't lost a match since a 3-1 loss to Parkside back on September 26.

The Bulldogs scored early in the first half and late in the second. The Cardinals (10-4-3, 8-3-1 GLIAC) had multiple scoring chances but couldn't over come the early deficit. Lainey Garbarz (Pinckney, Mich. / Father Gabriel Richard HS) made multiple big stops in goal to keep SVSU down by one before the sealing goal in the 90th minute.

Ferris State opened the scoring in the 13th minute on a cross into the box for Katherin Welch. After some chances for FSU late in the match, they took advantage of a turnover and found the back of the net with 34 seconds remaining.

SVSU put seven shots on goal and held an even 6–5 edge in corner kicks. Garbarz made eight saves in goal for the Cardinals, including five in the second half.

Madi Bajis (Macomb, Mich. / Utica HS) led the team with four shot attempts. Kylie Cesarek (Macomb, Mich. / Dakota HS) was just behind with three shots while both had two on goal.

Up Next: Saginaw Valley women's soccer heads on the road to Davenport on Thursday, November 6. The Cardinals and Panthers are set for a 2:00 PM kickoff. Afterwards, SVSU concludes the regular season at Grand Valley on Saturday, November 8. Saginaw Valley is tied with Parkside for the second spot in the GLIAC but have clinched a top-four spot, earning home turf for the opening round of the GLIAC Tournament.
