UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer's Lainey Garbarz was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Defensive Player of the Week.

The senior goalkeeper started both games for SVSU as they defeated Walsh 6-0 and Findlay 3-1. Garbarz played just over 60 minutes against the Cavaliers, earning a share of the shutout. She then stopped nine of the 10 chances by the Oilers, not allowing Findlay to take a lead throughout the game.

This is Garbarz's second GLIAC Player of the Week award of her career and the first for women's soccer in 2025. SVSU is back at home to host Grand Valley State and Davenport this week to open GLAIC play.
