Bradley Scores Brace as Cardinals Roll Past Walsh 6-0

NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team put together a dominant performance on the road Friday afternoon, defeating Walsh University 6-0 at Larry Staudt Field.

The Cardinals (1-1-1) opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Madi Bajis (Macomb, Mich. / Utica HS) buried a finish from close range off an assist from goalkeeper Lainey Garbarz (Pinckney, Mich. / Father Gabriel Richard HS). The advantage doubled in the 26th minute as Emma Bradley (Clarkston, Mich. / Clarkston HS) converted with help from Bajis. Less than 15 minutes later, Bradley struck again, this time assisted by Ruby Grundner (Bellee River, Ontario / Tecumseh Vista Academy), before Emily Kolodin (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Grand Blanc HS) made it 4-0 heading into halftime.

The second half saw the Cardinals continue their attack. In the 54th minute, Rileigh Garbarz (Pinckney, Mich. / Father Gabriel Richard HS) found the back of the net off a setup from Kylie Cesarek (Macomb, Mich. / Dakota HS). Maddie White (Bay City, Mich. / Garber HS) added the final goal in the 63rd minute to close out the scoring.

SVSU outshot Walsh 20-9, putting 12 on target compared to just two for the Cavaliers. Bradley paced the Cardinals with two goals on four shots, while Bajis recorded a goal and an assist. R. Garbarz, Kolodin, and White each added their first goals of the season.

In goal, L. Garbarz played the opening 61 minutes before Kennedi Pugh (DeWitt, Mich. / DeWitt HS) closed out the final 29 minutes. The pair combined for the shutout, with Pugh making two saves.

Up Next: Saginaw Valley heads to Findlay on Sunday, September 14 to complete the non-conference section of the schedule. They'll host Grand Valley State on Friday, September 19 for the first GLIAC game of the year. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM from DeHaven Soccer Complex in Findlay, Ohio on Sunday.
