Tiffin, Ohio — Saginaw Valley State headed down to participate in a midweek regional contest against Tiffin University. The Cardinals completed their sixth shutout of the season after dominating the Dragons, 4-nil.
The Cardinals head to a 8-1-2 overall record, while Tiffin falls to 1-10-1.
Even though all the scoring did happen in the second half for the Cards, SVSU took control of the contest out of the gate. After 45 minutes of play, Saginaw Valley had posted 10 shots, with five on goal, while holding TU to a total of zero.
At the 49' mark of play, Molly Vanderhoff was the first Card to get on the board after dribbling the ball down the field and taking a shot, edging out the 1-0 lead.
Valentina Giambanco took a shot off her own rebound at the 60', netting the second goal of the contest, her seventh of the season. Giambanco currently leads the SVSU team in goals and is tied for second in the conference.
Next up was a quick PK in the back of the net by senior Kayla Trevino, taking the lead 3-0 over the Dragons in the 79' minute of action.
Kylie Lukowski rounded out the scoring for SVSU after taking a 40-yard shot that passed the TU goalie to earn a 4-0 lead in the final minute of the contest.
Tiffin was unable to find the goal but one time in the second half, but Alyssa Watts stopped the ball, giving the Cardinals a 4-0 victory on the road.
