Porter and Aubrey Named Daktronics Inc. First-Team All-Midwest Region

ROLLA, Mo. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team placed two student-athletes on the 2012 Daktronic Inc. All-Midwest Region first team as announced by the regional committee today (Nov. 19).  Senior captain and defender Charley Porter (Midland, Mich.) and midfielder Annie Aubrey (Jackson, Mich.) were the lone Cardinals to be selected to the team.

Porter, an All-GLIAC first team selection, had an excellent season for the Cardinals defensive unit, scoring four goals, while assisting on a GLIAC-leading 10 other scores, as SVSU returned to the GLIAC postseason for the first time in two years. She led Saginaw Valley with 18 points this season.  Aubrey, an All-GLIAC honorable mention choice, led the Cardinals this season with eight goals and ranked second overall on the team with 17 points. Aubrey scored five game winning goals on the year for SVSU and ended the season tied for seventh in goals in the conference.

The Cardinals advanced to the Women's Soccer GLIAC Tournament Finals, where their season came to an end against Grand Valley State University.

All 13 first-team All-Region selections will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America Consideration. The All-America teams are scheduled to be released on Wednesday, November 28. The complete Daktronics Midwest Region teams can be found by clicking here.
