BAY CITY, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team placed two student-athletes on All-GLIAC teams as announced by the conference office today (Nov.2).
Senior captain and defender Charley Porter (Midland, Mich.) was selected to the the All-GLIAC First Team, while sophomore midfielder Annie Aubrey (Jackson, Mich.) was selected to the honorable mention team.
Porter has been highly effective all season for the Cardinals defensive unit, scoring four goals and assisting on a GLIAC-leading 10 other scores, as SVSU returns to the postseason. She also leads Saginaw Valley with 18 points.
Aubrey leads the Cardinals this season with eight goals and ranks second overall on the team with 17 points. She has scored five game winning goals on the year for Saginaw Valley and is tied for seventh in goals in the conference.
The Cardinals advanced to the Women's Soccer GLIAC Tournament Finals after defeating the Michigan Tech Huskies today (Nov. 2), 4-2, in penalty kicks. They await the winner of the Grand Valley State and Ferris State match for a Championship match-up on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM at Grand Valley State University.
