Lacrosse Concludes 2026 Season

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's lacrosse team finished the 2026 season with a 21-1 loss at Grand Valley State on Sunday afternoon.

The Cardinals (1-14, 0-8 GLIAC) surrendered the first goal to trail 1-0 in the opening five minutes of play before Abby Lee (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lake Orion HS) scored off an assist from Lainey Lasky (Ortonville, Mich. / Brandon HS) to knot things up at one score each.

The Lakers then scored three straight goals to hold a 4-1 lead at the end of the first. GVSU held SVSU scoreless for the final three quarters to hold on for the double-digit win.

Lainee Carmean (Muskegon, Mich. / Mona Shores HS) registered a shot on goal and had a team-best four draw controls and two ground balls. Mikaila Stone (Murrieta, Calif. / Murrieta HS) (L, 1-14) registered 17 saves and led the Cardinals with six ground balls.

SVSU finishes the second season in program history with Ally Schneider as the team's leading scorer with 18 points. She scored 14 goals and tallied four assists this season for the Cardinals. Briar-Rose Mackey (Saline, Mich. / Saline HS) led in goals with 15, and Gabby Parker (Fort Lauderdale, Fla. / West Broward HS) and Lasky finished as the team's best passers with five assists each.  Carmean had a team-high 37 draw controls and finished one caused turnover behind Mya Nemecek (Brighton, Mich. / Brighton HS), who had 14. Stone led SVSU in ground balls for the second consecutive year with 37. The sophomore goal keeper totaled 205 saves during her second season.
