Christina Nagy Leads Cardinals After First Two Rounds of NCAA DII East Regional

FINDLAY, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf program completed the first two rounds of the NCAA Division II East Regional on Monday, May 4 at Findlay Country Club. Originally scheduled as a three-day event, the tournament was adjusted to 36 holes on Monday due to expected inclement weather on Tuesday.

The Cardinals sit 16th out of 18 teams after rounds of 330 (+42) and 341 (+53) for a two-round total of 671 (+95).

Christina Nagy leads SVSU and is tied for 29th out of 100 golfers. She carded rounds of 81 (+9) and 79 (+7) for a total of 160 (+16), recording four birdies on the day, including three in her second round.

Andie Martin follows with a total of 165 (+21) after shooting 79 (+7) in the opening round and 86 (+14) in the second.

Marissa GeRue and Alivia Ligrow are two strokes apart after both competing in the full 36 holes. GeRue posted rounds of 83 (+11) and 89 (+17) for a total of 172 (+28), while Ligrow recorded back-to-back rounds of 87 (+15) to finish at 174 (+30).

Averie Pumford opened with a 90 (+18) before Mayson Southland competed in the second round, shooting a 94 (+22).

Nagy ranks among the top performers on par fours, averaging 4.20 strokes per hole (+4), and is tied for the team lead in total birdies with four.

Up Next: With weather impacting the schedule, the timing of the final round remains to be determined. The third round could be played Tuesday if conditions allow or pushed to Wednesday as originally scheduled. At the conclusion of play, the top four teams, along with the top two individuals not on an advancing team, will move on to the NCAA Division II Championships.
