LACONIA, Ind. – Saginaw Valley State University women's golf competed in the Findlay/UIndy Intercollegiate, hosted by Findlay and UIndy, on Monday and Tuesday. The Cardinals played three rounds at Chariot Run Golf Course, finishing fifth out of nine teams with rounds of 327 (+39), 316 (+28), and 322 (+34) for a total of 965 (+101).
Marissa GeRue led the Cardinals, tying for 11th place out of 52 golfers. She posted consistent rounds of 78 (+6), 77 (+5), and 79 (+7) to finish with a total of 234 (+18).
Andie Martin and Christina Nagy tied for 34th place, each finishing with a three-round total of 247 (+31). Martin shot 88 (+16), 79 (+7), and 80 (+8), while Nagy recorded rounds of 87 (+15), 82 (+10), and 78 (+6).
Alivia Ligrow finished two strokes behind the pair with a total of 249 (+33) after rounds of 82 (+10), 82 (+10), and 85 (+13). Averie Pumford rounded out the lineup two strokes back, shooting 80 (+8), 78 (+6), and 93 (+21) for a total of 251 (+35).
As a team, SVSU ranked second on par threes, averaging 3.32 strokes per hole (+19), and recorded the third-most birdies with 28. Nagy led the field on par threes with an even-par average of 3.00. GeRue tied for seventh in total pars, while Pumford recorded the second-fewest bogeys in the tournament.
Up Next: Saginaw Valley women's golf travels to Ohio next week to compete in the NC4K Classic, hosted by Ohio Dominican. The tournament will be held at Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City, Ohio on Monday, April 6 and Tuesday, April 7.
