ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team competed in the 17th Annual Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invitational on Monday at The Meadows Golf Course. The Cardinals placed sixth out of 10 teams across two rounds of play, finishing with a total of 629 (+53).
Christina Nagy (Macedonia, Ohio / Nordonia HS) led SVSU, tying for 11th out of 67 golfers with a total score of 150 (+6). She carded rounds of 76 (+4) and 74 (+2), highlighted by 14 pars in the second round.
Andie Martin (New Boston, Mich. / Huron HS), Marissa GeRue (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Carroll HS), and Mayson Southland (Mona Shores, Mich. / Mona Shores HS) all finished within three strokes of one another. Martin rebounded from an opening 84 (+12) with a 74 (+2) for a total of 158 (+14). GeRue shot 79 (+7) and 81 (+9) for a 160 (+16), while Southland followed with 82 (+10) and 79 (+7) for 161 (+17).
Averie Pumford (Freeland, Mich. / Freeland HS) rounded out the team scoring with rounds of 87 (+15) and 82 (+10) for a 169 (+25). Competing individually, Alivia Ligrow (Pinckney, Mich. / Pinckney Community HS) posted rounds of 86 (+14) and 80 (+8) for a total of 166 (+22).
Up Next: The Cardinals travel to the Findlay Fall Invitational, hosted by the University of Findlay at Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio. The tournament is set for Monday, Oct. 6, and Tuesday, Oct. 7.
