ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team opened its fall season at the Folds of Honor Invitational hosted by Grand Valley State University. The Cardinals played three rounds over three days at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich., finishing eighth out of nine teams with a total score of 973.
Andie Martin (New Boston, Mich. / Huron HS) led SVSU, tying for 33rd out of 52 competitors. She posted rounds of 74 (+3), 79 (+8), and 84 (+13) for a three-round total of 237 (+24).
Christina Nagy (Macedonia, Ohio / Nordonia HS) followed closely behind with a total of 239 (+26). She recorded rounds of 81 (+10), 77 (+6), and 81 (+10).
In her first tournament with the Cardinals, Mayson Southland (Mona Shores, Mich. / Mona Shores HS) placed 38th overall with rounds of 83 (+12), 77 (+6), and 83 (+12), finishing at 243 (+30).
Aileen Cosentino (Washington, Mich. / Lutheran High North) and Alivia Ligrow (Pinkney, Mich. / Pinckney Community HS) rounded out the team scoring. Cosentino carded rounds of 89 (+18), 84 (+13), and 84 (+13) for a total of 257 (+44). Ligrow finished with 260 (+47) after shooting 86 (+15), 90 (+19), and 84 (+13).
Competing individually, Marissa GeRue (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Carroll HS) tied for 43rd overall with rounds of 80 (+9), 82 (+11), and 89 (+18), finishing with a total of 251 (+38).
Up Next: The Cardinals travel to the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wayne State University next week. The event will be played at The Orchards Golf Club in Washington, Mich., on Monday, September 22, and Tuesday, September 23.
