Andrew Quinn Earns All-America in the Shot Put on Final Day of NCAA D2 Outdoor Championships

EMPORIA, Kan. – The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships wrapped on Saturday evening. Saginaw Valley State University finished the three-day meet with 14 points to sit 18th in the men's team standings at the conclusion of the final event.

SVSU celebrated its fourth All-America honor with Andrew Quinn (Scottville, Mich. / Mason County Central HS) finishing eighth in the shot. Quinn's best heave of 18.17m was achieved on his third throw of the afternoon. He earns the second All-America honor of his career.

Jacob Walker (Jerome, Mich. / Columbia Central Senior HS) finished the outdoor season for the Cardinals, running the men's 5k in the evening. Walker finished the race in 14 minutes and 33.61 seconds to place 18th.

Walker earned All-America status on day one with his seventh-place finish in the 10K. Xavier Santiago and Sawyer Moloy were All-Americans in the high jump after finishing third and fourth yesterday. Quinn collected the final top-eight place in the shot put today to complete a good showing for SVSU in the outdoor meet.
