Track and Field Competes at Three Last Chance Meets

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University track and field team sent several student-athletes to last chance meets this week.

Noah Shaw and Timyah Meeks competed in the hammer throw at the Hillsdale Last Chance meet on Wednesday, May 6. Shaw finished fifth on the men's side with a best throw of 59.13m. That mark currently ranks 33rd in D2. Meeks finished ninth in the women's hammer after her heave of 43.65m.

Xavier Santiago highlighted at the Len Paddock Open in Ann Arbor when he finished second in the men's high jump after clearing the bar at 2.05m.

The 4x100m relay team of Zachary Harlan, Trevor Culpepper, Matthew Gazzarato, and Darryl Carter also finished second with a time of 40.23.

Samuel Meriweather was ninth in the 200m after crossing the finish line in 21.31 seconds.

Shaw competed in the hammer throw at Michigan as well. He finished 11th with a toss of 55.60m.

Brin Ciglenecki was 13th in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 4.61m.

The final four Cardinals to compete over the weekend were distance runners at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite in Joliet, Illinois. Dominic Suliman finished the men's 1500m invite section 1 race in third with a time of 3:45.48.

Corey Bowers competed in the men's steeplechase invite, finishing eighth with a time of 9:34.50.

Adam Thomas and Jack Lobodzinski competed in the final race of the weekend in the men's 10k in Illinois. Thomas finished fourth with a time of 31:07.87. Lobodzinski was 15th after crossing the finish line in 33:00.83.
