Cardinal Track and Field Compete at Oakland and Azusa Pacific

The Saginaw Valley State University track and field team had members compete in two locations over the weekend. The largest group traveled to Rochester, Michigan to compete in the Elaine Leigh Invite at Oakland University. The other group of distance runners made the trip to California to compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific.

Janae Hudson won the discus throw with a mark of 40.30m. She placed eighth in the hammer with a toss of 44.29m. Timyah Meeks placed third in both the discus (39.04m) and hammer (48.38m).

Grace Collett was third in the preliminary heats with a time of 14.30 before winning the final race with a 14.44 time. Natalie Formsma placed third in the race with her time of 15.01, a PR for her. She recorded another top five finish after earning fourth in the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.55m.

Marisa Johnson placed second in the 200m with a time of 25.72. Johnson ran the 100m hurdle preliminaries with a time of 14.54 that placed her fifth overall and set a new PR for her in the event.

The 4x100 relay team of Chaniya Madison, Marisa Johnson, Alicia Fields, and Katie Spicer were second after a time of 49.69.

Sami Potts placed third in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 3.48m on her second attempt. Gracie Warner was sixth in the event with a height of 3.33m that she cleared on her first attempt.

Taylor Moyer was fourth in the 400m dash after a time of 59.62. Abby Karst was fourth in the women's javelin after a heave of 31.52m. Sarah Gray was seventh in the event with a best throw of 28.21m.

Tori Henson and Ava Gary placed fifth and sixth in the long jump. Henson leaped 5.35m to finish fifth, while Gary set a personal best mark of 5.20m for sixth.

Katie Spicer finished eighth in the women's 100m dash with a time of 12.84.

On the men's side, Noah Shaw had the best throw in the discus of 49.13m to win the event. Christian Purchase was seventh in the event with a PR mark of 38.90m. Purchase also finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 12.35m.

Darryl Carter was second in the 400m dash collegiate race with a time of 48.19. Brin Ciglenecki grabbed second in the men's pole vault after clearing the height of 4.72m on his second attempt. Wilson Tschirhart was fifth with his clearance at 4.57m, a PR in that event for him.

Kadyn Warner placed third in the shot put after his best throw of 14.17m. Carter Wolf was fifth with a mark of 12.83m. Wolf earned third in the javelin with a personal best toss of 38.55m.

Ryan Reynolds finished the hammer with a mark of 41.40m to place fifth in the event. He set a new PR in the discus with a throw of 36.56m to place ninth.

In Azusa, Jacob Walker placed seventh in the men's 5k after he crossed the finish line in a career-best time of 13:58.35. Jack Lobodzinski also ran the 5k. He finished in 15:30.35 to place 21st in his heat of the invite.

Dominic Suliman set a new PR in the 800m with a time of 1:49.70 to place 11th in the race. Suliman also ran the 1500m in 3:45.64.

Adam Thomas competed in the men's 10k on Thursday. He finished with a PR time of 29:59.84 to place 12th in the race.

Justin Roose set a PR in the 800m with a time of 1:51.96. Roose ran the 1500m as well, finishing in 3:51.74.

Bryce Husen set a new PR in the 1500m run out West with a time of 3:53.68.

Jenna Sweeney also set a new PR in the women's 1500m with her time of 4:36.43. Tara Szuper followed suit with a career-best time of 4:37.61 in the race.
