UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University sophomore Sawyer Moloy added another honor to his resume this indoor season, with the GLIAC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year honor.
Moloy had a consistent sophomore campaign, finishing in the top three in seven of his eight appearances in the high jump event, including four wins. He matched his previous PR of 2.18m at the GVSU Big Meet, tying for the best mark in all of D2 for the remainder of the season.
The sophomore jumper was one of the favorites to win heading into the NCAA DII Championships. He did just that, matching the SVSU program record of 2.20m on his first attempt to secure the National Championship in just his second year of competition. Moloy became the second Cardinal to win the men's high jump title (first at the NCAA D2 level), and the first since 1989 when SVSU Hall of Famer Tom Badour won his second NAIA Championship in the event.
Moloy becomes the first men's athlete to win GLIAC Field Athlete of the Year since Sam Black won the honor following the 2021 outdoor season.
