VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships got underway on Friday. Saginaw Valley State University senior Dominic Suliman was the lone Cardinal qualifier to compete as he ran in the first heat of the men's one-mile preliminaries.
Suliman just missed the cut to the Finals with a time of 4:07.10 that placed him 10th overall after the two heats were completed. He was as high as fifth just over the 400-meter mark during his heat, but he faded back as the race moved to the 1200-meter spot. He climbed back up to seventh down the home stretch but couldn't improve his placing or his time to earn a chance to race tomorrow in the finals.
SVSU has three more men's student athletes set to compete tomorrow, with Andrew Quinn throwing the shot put at 2:45 p.m. (ET), and Xavier Santiago and Sawyer Moloy in the men's high jump starting at 4:30 p.m.
