ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University track & field team concluded the 2021 season at the NCAA DII Outdoor National Championships Saturday in Allendale Mich.
The Cardinals came away with several strong performances, adding to a historic 2021 season for SVSU, including a national title for the women with a relay victory.
The team of Lauren Huebner, Alona Olshevska, Morgan Fuerst, and Cheyenne Williamson raced to a win in the finals of the 4x400 relay, claiming the national title, the third for the Cardinals overall at the championships. The team crossed the line in 3:39.46.
Huebner finished second in the final of the 400-meter hurdles, earning All-American status. She crossed the line in 57.74 seconds for SVSU.
Olshevska competed in the final of the 400-meter dash, taking sixth place and an All-American honor in a time of 55.00 seconds.
The team of Angelina Delbosque, Huebner, Olshevska, and Williamson took eighth place in the final of the 4x100 relay with the team finishing in an All-American time of 45.93 seconds.
On the men's side, CarLee Stimpfel competed in the 5,000-meter run for the Cardinals, finishing 14th with a time of 14:40.40.
The SVSU women finished fifth as a team with 39 points, while the men were 26th with 10 points.
