UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The USTFCCCA announced its All-Region postseason awards for the 2021 outdoor track & field season with several Saginaw Valley State University men's and women's athletes being honored by the association.
Fresh off his Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Year award, Sam Black continued to pile up the hardware with the 2021 USTFCCCA NCAA DII Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year award.
In addition to being named the 2021 Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year, freshman Cheyenne Williamson was named to the All-Region Team seven times. She is the first SVSU women's athlete to win the Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year.
In total, nine SVSU athletes combined to earn 22 Midwest All-Region Team honors, including 16 for the women and six for the men.
On the men's side, Black and CarLee Stimpfel each took home two All-Region awards. In addition to Williamson's haul, Lauren Huebner added four honors, while Morgan Fuerst and Alona Olshevska each garnered two.
