UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – One day after sweeping the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships awards, freshman Cheyenne Williamson earned another accolade, announced on Tuesday.
The USTFCCCA named Williamson the Co-NCAA DII Women's National Athlete of the Week, making the Essexville, Mich., native the first Saginaw Valley State University athlete in program history to win the women's honor for the outdoor season. She was named the NCAA DII Indoor Athlete of the Week earlier this year.
Williamson won six events at the GLIAC Championships, including the 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, long jump, high jump. She was also a member of two first-place relay teams for SVSU.
On Monday, Williamson was named the GLIAC Track Athlete of the Meet, Field Athlete of the Meet, High-Point Athlete of the Meet, Freshman Field Athlete of the Meet, and the Freshman Track Athlete of the Meet.
Williamson is currently ranked among the best in NCAA DII in several events, including first in the Heptathlon, third in the 100-meter hurdles, fourth in the 100-meter dash, and sixth in the long jump.
