UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams are set to open competition at the 2021 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Davenport University Wednesday in Grand Rapids, Mich.

In the final tune-up for the Cardinals at the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet, Cheyenne Williamson stood out once again and has been named the GLIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the second straight week, it was announced by the conference Tuesday.

Williamson hit another NCAA DII Provisional mark with a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash. She crossed the line in 11.53 seconds. In addition, she was a member of the 4x100 relay team that crossed the line first in a provisional time of 46.26 seconds.

Williamson and the No. 6 rated Cardinals will look to continue their strong season at the GLIAC Championships Wednesday through Friday.
