Williamson takes four GLIAC awards after dominating Championships

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – After an outstanding two-day performance at the 2021 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend, Saginaw Valley State University sophomore Cheyenne Williamson was named the winner of several GLIAC Postseason awards.

Williamson was named the league's Field Athlete of the Year, Field Athlete of the Meet, Track Athlete of the Meet, and the High-Point Athlete of the Meet, it was announced by the GLIAC Monday morning.

The accolades are in addition to a weekend that saw Williamson win four GLIAC titles (long jump, high jump, 60-meter hurdles, and as a member of the distance medley relay), while adding two second-place finishes (60-meter dash, and 1,600-meter relay).

Earlier this season, Williamson set a new SVSU record in the Pentathlon. She was named the GLIAC Athlete of the Week and the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week for NCAA DII.

Williamson, along with the rest of the Cardinals, turns her focus to the NCAA DII National Championships, March 11-13 in Birmingham, Ala.
