• Participated in cross country, basketball and track and field at Brown City High School 
• During her freshman year, Hanson was a 3-event Conference champion, 3-event Regional champion, 2-event All-State recipient and broke the school's 100m and 200m records
• Sophomore year, she was a 4-event Conference champion, 4-event Regional champion, 400m state champion, 200m state runner-up, 2-event Academic All-State recipient, Caro Meet Of Champs Female Athlete of the meet and re-broke the school's 100m and 200m records and set a new 400m record
• Junior year was a 4-event Conference champion, 4-event Regional champion, 3-event All-State recipient and 3-event Academic All-State recipient
• During the senior year, she was once again a 4-event Conference champion, 4-event Regional champion, 2-event All-State recipient, 2-event Academic All-State recipient, Midwest Meet of Champs medalist in the 400m as a member of Team Michigan and then re-broke her school's 100m record once again
• Academically, Hanson was a 7-time Academic All-State recipient, 2-year member of National Honor Society, President of National Honor Society
