EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving continued the NCAA Division II National Championships on Wednesday with two events. Lexi Hieber highlighted the day with a seventh-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle to earn First Team All-America honors.

Hieber broke her own record in the 1000 free with a time of 10:03.47, just over half a second faster than her previous record time set earlier this season. This marks the first time Hieber has earned First Team All-America honors and the third All-America finish of her career. She previously finished 15th in the 1650-yard freestyle last year and 12th in the 800-yard freestyle relay yesterday.

Hadyn Gould was the other competitor for SVSU on the day. The sophomore got his first taste of the national meet in the 200-yard individual medley, placing 26th out of 35 swimmers. He entered the competition with a best time of 1:48.30 and finished just over half a second behind that mark with a time of 1:48.90.

Up Next: Saginaw Valley swimming and diving has one of its busiest days at nationals on Thursday, March 12. Alvaro Rodriguez and Gould will compete in the 100-yard butterfly, while Hieber and Carolina Bononi Heinz swim in the 200-yard freestyle. Both events begin at 10:00 AM.
