UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving program took home four wins over the weekend with a sweep of Lake Superior State on Friday and wins over Ashland, Hillsdale, and LSSU on Saturday. Layla Winklepleck earned GLIAC Diver of the Week for her performances.

Winklepleck took first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives on Friday and second in both the events on Saturday. In the dual meet, the freshman posted scores of 239.25 and 266.60. The 3-meter dives score is a National Qualifying mark. In the quad meet, the Hamilton, Michigan native improved on the 1-meter dives with a score of 256.05 while totaling 232.25 in the 3-meter dives.

This is the second GLIAC Athlete of the Week award for Winklepleck's career and the sixth for SVSU swimming and diving in 2025-26.

The Cardinals are on the road this Saturday as they compete against Albion and Aquinas in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
