Shaun Yap Named GLIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University swimming & diving student-athlete Shaun Yap was named the GLIAC Swimming & Diving Male Athlete of the Week.

Yap broke the men's program record in the 200 breaststroke, posting a time of 1:59.92 at the Cleveland State University Magnus Cup Invitational over the weekend. It was one of his three first place finishes he had out of four individual races. Shaun notched NCAA "B" Cut qualifying times in the 100 yard and 200 yard breaststroke races.

Yap was also named the GLIAC swimmer of the week for the week prior by collegeswimming.com, along with teammate Lydia Mattar, after their performances in a home victory over NCAA Division I school Valparaiso. That announcement can be found here

The Cardinals are off until January 9th, 2016, when SVSU hosts Albion College in a 1:00 p.m. meet.
