UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer had four players earn College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Honors. All four of them are seniors with Kolja Thomas (Butjadingen, Germany / Zinzendorschule Tossens), Logan Kunnen (Jenison, Mich. / Unity Christian HS), Nick Kay (Walled Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Central HS), and Ryan Bovee (Clarkston, Mich. / Clarkston HS).
The honors come from their success on the field and in the classroom. Each player must have at least a sophomore standing, be a starter or play significant minutes off the bench and have a 3.5 grade point average or better.
Bovee started in all 18 matches with Kay and Thomas starting in 17 and Kunnen starting in 16. Bovee had a career-best offensive output contributing to three goals with three assists this season. Thomas made an immediate impact on defensive in his first year after transferring from Montana State University-Billings, earning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year honors with two goals and an assist. Kunnen came back from two years of injuries, scoring a goal and adding two assists from the back line.
All four look to finish their degrees this year with Kay studying Occupational Therapy, Kunnen studying Business Analytics, Thomas studying Business Management, and Bovee finishing a degree in Business with a minor in Economics.
