UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer junior goalkeeper Nick Kay was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) office on Monday.

Kay led the Cardinals to a 1-0 win against No. 7 Gannon as he stopped all five shots he faced on Saturday. The Cardinals got their first win of the season as Kay racked up his seventh shutout and eighth win of his career.

This is the first Player of the Week award for the SVSU men's soccer program this season. It is the second time Kay has been named Defensive Player of the Week after earning the title as a freshman in 2022.

Saginaw Valley men's soccer heads on the road Thursday to take on the Tiffin Dragons. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM EST from Paradiso Soccer Field.
