Adamson earns GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -  The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team completed its fourth straight overtime win and third straight 1-0 shutout with a victory at Purdue University Northwest on Sunday.

For his efforts, Benjamin Adamson has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Tuesday.

Adamson has helped guide the No. 16 Cardinal defense to three consecutive shutouts, including holding the Pride without a shot on goal on Sunday. The award is the fifth player of the week honor for the Cardinals this season.

SVSU (6-0-0) has clinched the outright GLIAC regular-season championship and will be the No. 1 seed for the upcoming postseason tournament.

The Cardinals close the regular season at home against Upper Iowa University at 1 pm Sunday at Braddock Field.
