GLIAC names Barlow Offensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team opened the home portion of the 2021 spring schedule with a thrilling overtime win over rival Northwood University on Sunday at Braddock Field.

Down 3-1 early in the second half, senior Danny Barlow netted two goals in a six-minute span to tie the score and force overtime. In the extra frame, Barlow lifted a ball over the backline of the defense to teammate Kairo Coore, who beat the Northwood goalkeeper for the win.

For his efforts, Barlow has been named the latest Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.

The Newcastle, England native's two-goal and one-assist performance in the win over Northwood lifts Barlow's season totals to five goals and two assists through three games for the Cardinals.
