UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley
State University men’s soccer team picked up its second win
of the season today (Sept. 30) when they defeated Madonna
University 4-0.
The Cardinals struck in the 16th minute when senior Kevin Fox (Flushing,
Mich. / Flushing HS) found the back of the net off a pass from
junior Anthony Palazzolo
(Warren, Mich. / Western Michigan/Hope). Martin Savage would
extend Saginaw Valley’s lead to 2-0 on an assist from Andy Burgeson
(Shelby Township, Mich. / Utica Eisenhower HS). The Cardinals added
another goal before the end of the half when Mackenzie Bechard
(Shelby Township, Mich / Utica HS) netted a goal at 34:05. Fox
would add his second goal of the afternoon in the 58th minute on a
penalty kick to make the final score 4-0.
With the win Saginaw Valley improves to 2-6-2 overall on the
season, while Madonna falls to 1-5-2 overall on the season. The
Cardinals will return to action on Saturday Oct. 3 at 4:00 om when
they will host Rochester.
