Men’s Golf Competes at USML Invitational

PERU, Ind. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team competed at the UMSL Men's Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Rock Hollow Golf Course. The Cardinals placed 15th with a three-round total of 930 (+66).

AJ Liguori (Flushing, Mich. / Flushing HS) led SVSU with a total of 227 (+11), tying for 32nd out of 95 golfers. He opened with a 73 (+1) before carding back-to-back rounds of 77 (+5).

Tony Spicuzza (Grandville, Mich. / Grandville HS) followed two strokes behind at 229 (+13). He improved each round, shooting 79 (+7), 77 (+5), and closing with a 73 (+1).

Jorge Basterra (Bilbao, Spain) and Dominik Dostal (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Bloomfield Hills HS) rounded out the team scoring. Basterra posted rounds of 79 (+7), 80 (+8), and 78 (+6) for a 237 (+21). Dostal carded 81 (+9), 85 (+13), and 77 (+5) to finish at 243 (+27).

Evan Klein (Guelph, Ontario / Bishop Macdonell HS) shot 160 (+16) through two rounds, with scores of 78 (+6) and 82 (+10), but did not complete the tournament.

Up Next: The Cardinals travel to Tiffin, Ohio, for the Kyle Ryman Invitational hosted by Tiffin University. The event will be played at Mohawk Country Club on Monday, Oct. 6, and Tuesday, Oct. 7.
