NORMAN, Okla. - The Saginaw Valley State University Men's Golf team earned the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 season. The Cards were one of 41 schools in the nation to earn the honors.
The Cardinals received the recognition by earning over a 3.0 GPA for this past academic year. Saginaw Valley posted a 3.024 GPA in the 2016-17 campaign.
On the course, SVSU had eight top-five finishes in tournaments. The Cardinals claimed the title at the 2017 GLIAC Spring Invitational and had a runner-up finish at the Purgatory Regional. The season culminated at the 2017 NCAA Division II Super Regionals, where Saginaw Valley posted a school record 54-hole score of 849 (-15) at the Awarii Dunes Golf Course in Axtell, Nebraska.
