NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - The SVSU men's golf team, led by Ryan Peruski's five-under par score of 67, sit in second place at the Purgatory Regional tournament. The event is being played at the Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana on a par-72, 7116-yard layout.
Saginaw Valley fired an opening score of 291 with two players under par and in the top-three. the Cards trail GVSU by six strokes after the opening 18 holes. There are 29 teams in this weekend's regional tournament.
Peruski leads by a stroke after the first round with his 67. It marks his second-best score of the season and of his career.
Teammate Mason Motte carded a two-under par 70 as well, sitting in a two-way tie for third place.
Dustin Pumford posted a 76 (+4) in his opening round while Austin Carter had a 78 (+6). Pumford is tied for 40th overall while Carter is tied for 74th.
Jared Lyons competed as well, scoring a first round score of 80.
