Cardinals Finish Tied for 15th at The Jewell

BATAVIA, Ohio - The SVSU men's golf team competed in The Jewell at Elks Run Golf Tournament over the weekend at the Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio.  The event served as the third NCAA Division II Midwest Regional tournament of the 2014-15 season.  

The Cardinals opened the event with a score of 301 on Friday before posting a second round mark of 300 on Saturday.  The 601 (+25) total tied Saginaw Valley for 15th place overall with Illinois-Springfield, Drury and Cedarville.  The University of Indianapolis claimed the title with matching 290's (580) to finish one stroke ahead of the University of Missouri-St. Louis (581).

Wyatt Drost was the top performer over the weekend for the Cardinals, as he tied for 28th after shooting rounds of 73-74 (147, +3).

Micah Skidmore was next for the Cardinals.  Skidmore had scores of 75-73 (148, +4) to tie for the 35th position overall.

Carter Marsh tied for 59th after carding rounds of 77-74 (151, +7) and Ryan Thomas had scores of 76-79 (155, +11) to finish tied for 100th overall in the event.  That rounded-out the scoring for the Cardinals.

Saginaw Valley returns to the course on Sunday and Monday, April 12-13, for the fourth regional tournament of the year.  It will be held at the Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana.
