Cardinals Three Shots off Lead At GLIAC North Invitational

SOUTH HAVEN - The Saginaw Valley State University golf team traveled to HawksHead Golf Links in South Haven, Michigan for its second golf tournament of the fall and found itself right in the thick of things after the first round of the 2014 GLIAC North Invitational.

Led by strong performances by seniors Carter Marsh (71, -1) and Wyatt Drost (72, E), the Cardinals posted an opening round score of 292 (+4), sitting just three strokes off the pace set by Ferris State.  The Bulldogs had a first round total of 289 while Wayne State is in second place after a 291.

Sophomore Ryan Peruski carded a two-over 74 in his first official event competing for the Cardinals while senior Micah Skidmore had a 75 in round one.  

Senior Jeremy Schultz had an opening round 74 (+2) while competing as an individual in the event.

The teams will get back to work on the links-style course Sunday with a shotgun start at 8:30 am.
