Men's Golf Team Set to Compete at 2014 NCAA Division II National Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team, coming off an incredible comeback at the super regionals, is set to travel and compete at the 2014 NCAA Division II National Championships.  This year's event is being held at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich.  Grand Valley State University is serving as the host for the tournament.

The tournament will run from May 19-23.  The first three days (Monday-Wednesday) will feature a round of 18 holes each day, with all 20 teams and eight individuals competing.  At that point, an individual champion will be declared as well as finishers 2-10.  After the 54 holes of play, the top eight teams will be placed into a bracket and seeded based on their 54 hole scores.  Each team match will consist of five points with one point being awarded for each individual match.  The winning teams will advance to the semifinals and subsequently the finals.

The Cardinals will begin play on Monday teeing-off from the 10th tee.  Times will be from 8:25 am - 9:05 am, with groups teeing-off 10 minutes apart.  On Tuesday, the group will start on the first tee and play from 12:50 pm - 1:30 pm.  SVSU will be paired with Charleston (W.Va.), the #3 seed from the East and Atlantic Super Region and Hawaii-Hilo, the #3 team to come out of the West and South Central Super Region.  Teams will be re-paired according to score after the second round of play for Wednesday's third round.
