CALUMET CITY, Ill. - The Saginaw Valley State University golf team finished in a tie for seventh place over the weekend at the NCAA Division II Midwest Fall Regional #1. The Cardinals shot rounds of 302-295 (+21) to finish in a three-way tie with Lewis University and Northwood University.
Grand Valley State University won the event with a total score of 585 (+9), as six of the top-nine teams were from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
SVSU junior Wyatt Drost (Charlevoix, Mich./Charlevoix) was the Cardinals' top finisher for the weekend. Drost shot rounds of 77-71 to finish T-23rd at +4.
Fellow junior Micah Skidmore (Saginaw, Mich.) tied for 33rd place with a +5 149 (76-73) While senior Eric Gandy (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek) shot rounds of 74-76 en-route to a 150 (+6).
The Cardinals are back in action Saturday (10/5) and Sunday (10/6), as they travel to Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Michigan to play in the GLIAC Championships.
