GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Saginaw Valley State University senior golfer Nate Kelly (Suttons Bay, Mich.) finished in a tie for 56th place at the NCAA Division II Midwest/South Central Super Regional, which is being held at the Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Ky.
Kelly shot a one-over par 73 in round one and sat in a tie for 23rd place. A rain-out on day two forced the athletes to play 36 holes on day #3. Kelly had an 80 (+8) in round two before carding a 75 (+3) in the third and final round to finish at 12-over par for the championship.
Cyril Bounio from Abilene Christian won the event, shooting a seven-under par total of 209. Abilene Christian and Central Oklahoma were the regional co-champions.
The event concludes the season for SVSU men's golf and the collegiate career for Kelly, who was recently named the 2011 GLIAC Men's Golf "Athlete of the Year".
