ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University golf team sits in eighth place after first round play at the Arendsen Invitational, held at the par 72-7,060 yard Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich. The Cardinals shot a first round total of 308. Wayne State currently leads the tournament with a total of 292 after day one.
Senior Nate Kelly (Suttons Bay, Mich.) was top scorer for SVSU, carding an even-par 72 to sit in a tie for second place, just two shots off the pace. Senior Mike Horn (Clarkston, Mich.) shot a one-over 73 to tie for sixth place after 18 holes.
Play will resume tomorrow (9/26) with a shotgun start at 9:00 am.
