SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team finished in fourth place at the first NCAA Division II Regional Tournament of the 2010-11 season. The Cardinals shot a two-round total of 592 to finish one shot back of third-place Grand Valley State University. The University of Indianapolis won the tournament with a two day total of 578, defeating runner-up Drury by 12 strokes.
Senior Nate Kelly (Suttons Bay, Mich.) led the Cardinals, finishing in a tie for sixth place with a 145 (+1) total. Sophomore Addison Monfils (Big Rapids, Mich.) ended up tied for 11th with a 36-hole score of 147 (+3). Senior Mike Horn (Clarkston, Mich.) tied for 19th, shooting a 149 (+5) for the event.
The Cardinals will be back in action Saturday (9/25) and Sunday (9/26), as they will compete in the Arendsen, hosted at the Meadows Golf Course by Grand Valley State University.
