BAY CITY, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley
State University men’s golf team placed third out of 11 teams
at the first annual Al Watrous Memorial Intercollegiate
Invitational, hosted by the Cardinals at the Bay City Country Club.
SVSU finished with a three-round total of 865 (+1), and finished
behind second-place Grand Valley State University (846, -18) and
tournament winner Ferris State University (837, -27).
Senior John Lange (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek HS) was low-man
for the Cardinals, finishing with a nine-under par 207. Senior
Dieter Schulz (Fort Gratiot, Mich./Port Huron Northern HS) finished
with a +2 overall score for the SVSU #1 team while Red-shirt
freshman Dustin Vogl (Bay City Mich./Western HS) led the SVSU #2
team with a final score of 217 (+1).
Ferris State University senior Eric Lilleboe garnered individual
medalist honors with a three-round total of 202 (-14) while
teammate Garrett Simons finished four strokes behind him with a
score of -10 for the Bulldogs.
The Cardinals will be in action again at the first NCAA Regional
Tournament, which will be held in South Haven, Mich. from Sept.
20-21.
