GROSSE ILE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State
University men’s golf team struggled through the first 18
holes of play at the Motor City Invitational, hosted by Wayne State
University. The Cardinals (+46) sit in 10th place out of 10 schools
after one round of play. Ashland University leads the tournament so
far, sitting in first with a score of +13.
Eric Gandy was the top performer for SVSU in round one, firing an
eight-over par 79 while teammate Nate Kelly shot an 80 for the
first 18 holes. Mike Horn shot an 85 while Addison Monfils and
Dustin Vogl shot rounds of 86 and 87, respectively on the par 71,
6,828 yard Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club.
Frost in the morning resulted in the second round not being
finished Sunday (Oct. 11). Play will resume Monday (10/12) at 10:00
am, with the third round being played after, beginning with a
12:30pm shotgun start.
