SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley
State University golf team is tied for fourth after day one at the
NCAA DII Regional Tournament #1 with a three under 285. Leading the
way for the Cardinals was Kasey Hocquard (Cheboygan, Mich.) with a
round of 68. Junior Dieter Schulz (Port Huron, Mich.) shot a first
round 71, while teammate Brian King (Livonia, Mich./Detroit
Catholic Central) entered the the clubhouse with a 72. Nate Kelly
(Suttons Bay, Mich.) finished his round with a score of 74.
Sophomore Mike Horn (Clarkston, Mich.) finished the scoring out for
the Cardinals on day one with a 75.
Indianapolis is leading the tournament with a nine under 279 and
SVSU is bunched with a Grand Valley and Findlay at 285. The
Cardinals will play their second and final round on Monday (Sept.
22).
