KICK-OFF
Saginaw Valley State University football looks to bounce back after a tough loss to No. 1-ranked Ferris State on Senior Day when they travel to Houghton to face Michigan Tech in the final game of the regular season.

LAST TIME OUT...
The Saginaw Valley State University football team lost to No. 1 Ferris State 51-45 in double overtime. The Cardinals (5-5, 4-2 GLIAC) forced six turnovers, turning them into 24 points, but the Bulldogs (10-0, 6-0 GLIAC) overcame a 17-point deficit late to force a shootout down the stretch.

Christian Boivin led the team with 15 tackles, forced a fumble, had two interceptions that resulted in Cardinal touchdowns, and blocked the field goal to force overtime.

Mason McKenzie finished the game 17-for-30 passing for 178 yards and two touchdowns. He would add 23 rushes for a team-high 85 yards and three scores to his stat line. It is the second time this season he has rushed for three touchdowns in a game.

Cornell Beard had 12 carries for 52 yards to lead all running backs in the game. Zelinski and Brown Jr. had four catches and a score. Zelinski totaled 59 yards, while Brown Jr. registered 46.

Jaden Bevier was second on the team in tackles with seven. He also forced one fumble. Four Cardinals finished with six tackles: Nathan Kibambe, Ty Robertson, Xavier Chasen, and Trace Corlew. Robertson had two tackles for loss, while Corlew added a pick, a fumble recovery, and two pass breakups.

1ST-AND-10
Mason McKenzie leads the team in both passing (1,846 yards) and rushing (902 yards) this season. He has completed 58.8% of his passing attempts and is involved in over 50% of the total team touchdowns (24-of-43). He leads the GLIAC in total offense (274.8), ranking 22nd in NCAA Division II. His 902 rushing yards rank third in the GLIAC and 25th in the country.

• McKenzie was 16-of-30 for 268 yards and three touchdowns in a four-point loss to Michigan Tech last season.

Terrence Brown Jr. leads the conference with 627 receiving yards and is tied for the lead for receiving touchdowns (5). Brown's move to the slot has proven beneficial for both him and the team, as he is McKenzie's favorite target with a team-high 48 catches. He and McKenzie are tied for second in points with 60.

Christian Boivin leads the defense with 99.0 tackles. He has compiled 3.5 sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, and a team-high three interceptions. He is the GLIAC leader in tackles with 99 and anchors a Cardinal defense that allows the second fewest rushing yards per game (114.5) and has held opponents to under 50 yards rushing twice this year.

Jaden Bevier is second on the team in tackles with 51. He is the team leader in sacks with 4.0 and also has 6.0 TFLs through 10 games this year.

Adom LeDuc helps lead the Cardinal pass rush with 3.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss. He has 47 tackles (5th on the team) and has one forced fumble and a pass breakup.

James McDonald has the fourth-most tackles on the team with 50 stops. He has recorded double-digit tackles three times, including two of the last three games.

• The Cardinals are making their fourth road trip this season, with the trip to Houghton being the second-longest trip of the year (Connecticut against New Haven being the furthest). SVSU left the state of Michigan just once. Saginaw Valley is 1-2 as a visitor this season.

Teagen Lenderink leads the team in scoring with 62 points. He is 7-of-13 (.540) in field goals with a season-long of 53 yards, which he hit in the 20-19 win at Grand Valley State in early October. Lenderink earned both GLIAC and D2Football.com Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in that contest.
