Thomason named GLIAC Special Teams POTW

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University football team got back in the win column with a 38-14 victory at home over No. 8 University of Indianapolis on Saturday. 

The scoring started with Derek Thomason blocking a punt and returning the ball for a 21-yard touchdown early in the first quarter. Thomason also recorded a team-high nine tackles, including six solo on defense.  

For his efforts, Thomason has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. The Ypsilanti, Mich., native is the first Cardinal to win the award this season.  

SVSU (5-2, 0-2 GLIAC) hits the road this weekend for a matchup with Wayne State University at 6:07 pm on Saturday in Detroit.
