Sequin Named NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced Thursday that freshman pitcher Jack Sequin has been named the NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week. It comes after being named NCBWA Midwest Region and GLIAC Pitcher of the Week.

Sequin threw the second Cardinal no-hitter of the 21st century on Saturday in a 9-0 win over Lake Erie. In his second career start, the Bay City, Michigan native pitched seven innings, allowed two walks and hit a batter, and struck out six. He also rolled up a double play and had a runner thrown out on the base paths to face one batter above the minimum. In the outing, Sequin threw an efficient 71 pitches, throwing just over 10 pitches an inning.

The last no-hitter for SVSU was in 2024 and was the first since 1992. The Cardinals swept the four-game series against the Storm, outscoring them 44-10. Saginaw Valley baseball heads to Maryville for a three-game series this weekend.
